What was the one experience that completely changed your life? What happened? How did it change your life?
For my last blog i figure i would try listening to something im not usually into. I chose Led Zeppelin and it turns out this band was not bad at all.
Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in London in 1968. The band members consist of a guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones and the drummer John Bonham.Their heavy guitar sound came from influence of blues and folk music. They were signed to Atlantic records who gave them a contract with artistic freedom. They were fairly unpopular but soon gain popularity from their albums “Led Zeppelin (1969), Led Zeppelin 11 (1969) etc..
One of their most famous songs “Stairway to Heaven” which was on their fourth album is said to be one of the most influential works in rock music. this song also help to increase their popularity.
Led Zeppelin are widely considered one of the most successful, innovative and influential rock groups in history. they are the second best selling band in the united states, and each one of their nine studio albums placed were placed on the Billboard top 10 and six reach the number one spot.”the biggest band of the ’70s” and “unquestionably one of the most enduring bands in rock history”. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995; the museum’s biography of the band states that they were “as influential in that decade the 1970s as the Beatles were in the prior one”.
The song i enjoyed was “whole Lotta Love” it was on their second album “Led Zeppelin 11”. In the US it was their first hit single, selling over a million copies. it was placed on the Billboard 500 greatest songs, also it was recognized by Rolling stones.
“Whole Lotta Love” was the last song Led Zeppelin ever played live.
Another great song by led Zeppelin was “All of my love” its the sixth song on their album “In through the out door”. it was a tribute to Plant’s son who died while they were away on tour. its a different type of music for them, it followed a slower tempo , which brought my attention to it.
The band continue to gain popularity. In the 1970s Led Zeppelin reached new heights of commercial and critical success that made them one of the most influential groups of the era, dwarfing their earlier achievements. they even change their style, they began to wear elaborate , flamboyant clothing.
The band separation was very sad, unlike other band, their separation was not due to internal issues within the band but due to the lost of one of their own. eventually they reunited but it want the same.
