Labrinth is an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He started off as just a producer until he was signed by Simon Cowell. Labrinth’s first single, “Let the Sun Shine” had been released in September 2010, reaching number three on UK’s Single Chart. His debut album Electronic Earth, was released on 31 March 2012. He is currently working on his second album Take Me To the Truth, which is due to be released this year. He released a single in 2014 called Jealous, which has become one of my favorite songs.

In the song Jealous by Labrinth, he talks about how he loves someone and gave them his all, but it wasn’t good enough. He discusses how he’s jealous of the new person who has filled the spot that he was once in. This song is so raw and filled with emotion. You can feel his sadness in his voice as he sings, and you can feel how much he longs for the love he had once had. Through out the song his comparisons he uses and choice of diction relays his true feelings. Especially in the first verse when he says he’s jealous of the rain. On the musical side of this song, the key changes and harmonizing used gives me chills. His voice is truly angelic, and the piano compliments his voice perfectly. As a signer and an a pianist, I truly appreciate this song, and the effort that goes into composing a song like this. The reason I love this song is because when I came across it I identified with the emotions he was portraying. At the time of discovering this song, I was going through losing my significant other to someone else. I fully related to the feelings he was feeling, and it made me feel less alone in going through losing them. I love that music can make you feel less alone in any situation. There is a song for almost every emotion or situation.
